Amana® Products Now Have Premium Product Packaging

To better differentiate its Amana brand, Goodman Manufacturing has introduced premium product packaging on all Amana-brand high efficiency equipment:
condensing units, heat pumps, furnaces, and air handlers. The packaging enhancements are designed to better protect products in transit and provide homeowners with a premium experience upon delivery of their new unit.

New packaging includes a larger skid, full unit coverage, and a tighter fitting lid.

  • Larger skid provides margin on each side
of the unit to help reduce bump damage
  • Sleeve provides full unit coverage and protection
  • Tighter fitting lid to prevent slippage and provide enhanced protection

The new premium packaging also clearly shows the American Pride logo  (below) for homeowners to see.

Once the final rule is published, you will have 30 days to comply with the enforcement plan. The plan is listed below. Please note, the dates are tentative, pending publication of the Final Rule of the Enforcement Plan in the Federal Register.

Dip Switch Settings on Inverter 18 & 20 SEER Split Systems

Amana has recently released Service Bulletin SR-064 regarding dip switch settings on Inverter 18 & 20 SEER split systems DZ18VC0**1A*, DZ20VC0**1A, DX20VC0**1A*, AVXC200**1A* and AVZC200**1A* Models.

From Amana:

Technical Services has received information from the field relative to installed units where the Dip Switches were set in the wrong position from the factory or changed in the field causing the unit to run before the System Test was initiated. Improper DS2 dip switch settings could result in condenser operation at power up prior to System Test and can be perceived as a faulty control board (PCB). Please verify DS2 dip switch settings before replacing the PCB.

Switches 1 and 2 in switch bank DS2 must be in the ON position for normal operation on 20 SEER AVZC200**1A* and AVXC200**1A* models. The table below explains the proper dip switch arrangement for the two DS dip switch banks on the 20 SEER models.Capture

The factory default setting can be verified on the wiring diagram which is attached to the control panel cover and in the installation and operation manual. The Dip Switch settings can also be found in the Service Manual for these products. These settings are being added to a revised I&O – Installation and Operation manual, which is due out in 2-4 weeks.

Click here for wiring diagrams and pictures of the PCBs affected.

If you have questions about this bulletin, HVAC Distributors customers can reach out to our Technical Service department at 800.228.4822 x5.

Federal Tax Credits on Qualifying Residential Indoor Comfort Systems

The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 has been extended and revised to provide federal tax credits on qualifying, high-efficiency residential HVAC products and systems through December 31, 2016.

Many Amana systems qualify for these rebates. Goodman has provided tax credit information and a tax certificate for each tax credit product type to the amana-hac web site.

From Goodman:

  • The maximum amount an eligible homeowner may receive in federal tax credits for purchasing and installing qualifying products, whether those purchases are in the form of upgraded insulation, windows, HVAC equipment or other eligible improvements, is now 10% of the cost of the improvement, including installation costs, up to $500 (there are per-item limits).

  • The $500 tax credit amount is reduced by the total amount of residential energy property credits a homeowner has claimed for purchases between 2006 and 2016. If a residential homeowner has already claimed single-family home tax credits of $500 or more from improvements made prior to 2016, he or she cannot claim any new tax credits during 2016.

  • All furnaces and boilers, whether fueled by natural gas, propane or fuel oil, must have an AFUE rating of 95% or higher to be eligible.

  • Products or units must be installed between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2016, to be eligible for tax credits.

Tax-Credit-Table

Requires:
Installation in an existing home (principal residence only). Not available on new construction or rentals. Complete details of the programs are available here.

You can order qualifying product at any of our HVAC Distributors locations, by phone or through Web Order Entry.
